Vintage hardcover book titled "Sport in Many Lands, Europe, Asia, Africa, and America, Etc. Etc. " by H. A. Leveson aka "The Old Shekarry". Profusely illustrated throughout. This copy undated (besides original owner's date of 1880), most likely published in 1877. Published by Frederick Warne and Co, London. Beautiful gilt illustrated blue cloth boards in true Victorian art nouveau style. This copy of the book was owned by Julian Steele, and is signed by him in the year 1880 on the front pastedown, and bears his custom Coldstream Guards bookplate on the ffep. Julian Steele was a British Army officer, commissioned into the Coldstream Guards in 1890, achieving rank of Second Lieutenant. Association copy. Binding intact and complete, torn and tattered along spine hinges. An overall attractive copy of this scarce work.
